Pitch conditions: important notice

Connacht Rugby wishes to remind all affiliate members it is the host club's responsibility to ensure any and all playing areas meet minimum match standards.

While clubs must undertake all reasonable efforts to ensure pitch viability, if club officials feel the pitch is unplayable for whatever reason, they must contact the branch with their concerns and a pitch inspection will be undertaken.

No pitch-related cancellation, amendment or postponement may be effected without Branch input and approval. Failure to observe established protocols may result in sanctions against one of or both the clubs and/or teams involved.

Connacht Branch IRFU / Competitions Committee

In the interests of fairness, transparency and competition, the following shall apply to individual players participant in the Ard na Cregg Cup competition: any player who starts a match in the Junior Plate competition is ineligible to play in the Ard Na Cregg competition; however, the Competitions Committee may make an exception if an individual or individuals ordinarily attached to a J2 panel start a Junior Plate competition fixture due to unforeseen circumstances, for example (but not limited to) another’s injury or illness.

All other players will be deemed eligible for the Ard na Cregg if they have appeared in a minimum of four J2 fixtures (or number deemed applicable by the Competitions Committee relative to fixtures completed).
