On Saturday last the recently formed Claremorris RFC began registering Mini players for the coming season. Organised by Fergal Leonard, Andrew Maxwell and Eddie McLaughlin the registration day turned out to be a fantastic success with upwards of 100 children registering. The first training session will be held on Saturday 3^rd October with the venue yet to be confirmed.

Claremorris RFC also held their Tag Rugby Finals on Saturday evening at the Convent Grounds. The Tag Finals were a culmination of a Summers Tag Rugby played in Claremorris with numbers up to 30 playing every Monday evening from June to September. The initiative was supported by Connacht Rugby, the IRFU and the Mayo Sports Partnership which enabled local volunteers to develop the Tag throughout the summer. The finals night itself was a great success as 4 teams battled it out for supremacy. The standard of play was excellent with all players showing quality handling and running skills. Afterwards the players, referees and supporters retired to Hanley's Bar where the trophy was presented to the winning team. The Male and Female Player of the Tournament were also named, with Kevin Walsh and Charlotte Grant picking up the awards respectively.
