OBLC 16 - 35 Corinthians
Corinthians Junior team are on the brink of something really special. They have been working hard all season and have grown into a team in every sense of the word. The camaraderie and team spirit is evident in their hunger to win and play for each other. It was a big ask last Sunday for them to go to OLBC and get a bonus point win, if you consider that Monivea could not achieve that earlier on in the season. After trailing 6-0 due to some ill discipline, Kieran Dunne opened the Corinthian scoring account with a well worked team effort of a try. After this the visitors took full control of the match, using a solid set piece as a foundation combined with good running by the backs and some solid defense. Boys Club by no means had any intention of rolling over and playing dead. They really upped the ante midway through the second half, only to end up behind the post again in a huddle. Kieran Dolan, Ciaran Dunne, Cormac McGuckian and Greg Flaherty scored for Corinthians while they also had a penalty try, with Barry O Sullivan and substitute Dave Clark adding to the score with the boot. Junior and Senior Preview Next week concludes one of the most exciting Junior league campaigns Corinthians have seen for as long as memory serves them. The team face Castlebar in a must win game to stay in contention. A bonus point win will secure the league, however, should they not get the bonus point and Monivea gets a five pointer against Corrib it will come to a play off situation as they will end joint top with Monivea. Therefore losing is not an option. That said regardless of the outcome every single player that had some sort of contribution throughout the season needs to be commended for their effort. It has been a pleasure to watch them play and train. The Seniors have an equally important match on Saturday at home to Banbridge. This match is very important in the context of the season and Corinthians will do well not to give up the slightest of gaps built up on the league table Without stating the obvious both teams needs all the support they can get so please make an effort to get out there and support the lads |
