Marist College advanced to the semi-finals of the Connacht Tribune senior schools cup with a 10-3 win over Clifden Community School. Flanker Killian Donnelly scored an injury-time try for the Athlone school to book a semi-final place against holders Colaiste Iognaid in what will be a repeat of last year’s final. Marist led 3-0 at the break at the Monastery Field in Clifden on Thursday thanks to a penalty from Kevin Dunne when they had the wind at their backs. Showers of snow could not halt a genuine effort from both schools with a Shane Sweeney getting Clifden CS back on level terms before Donnelly won the day for Marist in the dying moments.  |
